In recent years, a number of the hybrid electric vehicles imported from overseas to our country is constantly increasing. The majority of those imported vehicles are secondhand and this causes a large amount of battery toxic waste. It is infeasible that the wasted batteries can be reapplied in vehicular application. However, they can be reused in small-scale renewable energy generation systems. In this work, an optimal solution of the energy storage system based on the wasted batteries from hybrid electric vehicles that is applicable to renewable energy systems is proposed and its prototype model will be developed. Furthermore. the effectiveness of the developed system and the required cost will be evaluated.
